While mobility scooters definitely aid with enhancing the quality of life for many people, they also need mobility scooter carriers in order to transport their scooters from place to place. In fact, scooter ramps and carriers allow people to get the full benefits from their mobility scooters. These make it possible to get your scooter anywhere you need to take it so that you can enjoy life as much as someone who doesn’t have a need for a mobility scooter. As most people tend to need to transport their scooters occasionally, it is important to think ahead when you purchase your scooter as to the options you will have to transport it. Sometimes it’s difficult to decide between mobility scooter carriers and scooter ramps. If you are using a van that has a lift or public transportation, you may want to consider getting a scooter that is smaller over all and has a narrow wheelbase. Other powered scooter carriers have a ramp that flips down so the scooter can drive on or off of the platform. Manual carriers stay at a specific height above the road. When ready, you simply put down a ramp so you can drive the scooter up onto the platform. Once it is on the platform, the scooter is held in place using safety belts so it will stay put on the platform while driving. In trying to decide between scooter ramps and carriers to transport your scooter, you should look at your needs and what will work best for you. This is a common way to transport scooters with 3 and 4 wheels that are not made to be taken apart. This lets you drive your scooter, in tact, right into your van. · The Roll up ramp is a portable ramp that can be used for either wheelchairs or scooters. They are made so they roll up for easy carrying.
· A scooter ramp has side rails with center panels that slide into place. They lock securely to ensure a reliable driving surface.
· The Suitcase ramp is convenient and compact. Featuring a built-in handle for carrying, it folds in half so it can be carried like a suitcase when it’s not being used.
· The Telescopic Channel can be extended for use on steps, vans, or curbs. To store it, just pick up each ramp rail and push in the guide buttons. This collapses the ramp for light and easy storing.
· The Threshold ramp is made for doorways, raised landings, and sliding glass doors. It helps you move around on your scooter easier when you’re in your home. Do Your Research Whatever else you do, remember to thoroughly research all scooter ramps and carriers before making your final decision about what is going to work out best for your situation. Everyone’s circumstances are unique, but if you look around carefully, you will find the perfect solution for your scooter transportation needs.
